Brother Eli Soriano was teaching through his Ang Dating Daan TV program that the sun is 193 million mile away from the earth.
Eli Soriano: ‘Yung araw, 193 million miles away. Naintindihan mo? To be exact, One Hundred Ninety Two million eight hundred thousand miles away(192,800,000 ). Ganu’n kalayo ang araw sa mundo.
But, is it really true that the sun is 193 million miles away from the earth? On the The World Book Encyclopedia of Science, Astronomy, Vol.1 p.56, it was written:
The sun is our nearest star, situated at an average distance from the earth of about 92,960,000 miles…
The sun is 92,960,00 miles or rounding it off, 93,000,000 miles away from the earth. Therefore it is clear enough that Brother Eli Soriano's teaching regarding it, really is an absurd one.
